How to:Satin Bonnet Sleep cap

Ever wonder how to make those beautiful satin bonnets so you could sleep all you want without having to destroy your hair-do? Probably you just want a satin bonnet badly and you don't have enough money to purchase it or you just want to do this DIY for fun or practice sake. Today's step by step tutorial is going to show you how to make your own DIY real satin bonnets without having to break the bank or spend unnecessary expenses and it's all in the comfort of your home.
It's really really very exciting to think that I wouldn't at least need to purchase a satin bonnet again unless I really just want to,lol. I've really been having some personal questions about it and now I think it's time to hit the nail on the head. Right here's an easy way you can make your own satin bonnet and start sleeping the right way with your hair!!!

THIS PROJECT IS REALLY NOT EXPENSIVE...

Now let's get right into the DIY tutorial!!!

  1. GET THE MATERIALS NEEDED

  • Check out among your old things if you would probably find an old satin material that's no longer needed. That's what I actually did. But,if you do not seem to have an old satin material, you can purchase one here.
  • Get pins, safety pins, thread, needle and an elastic band.
  • You could also get some rhinestones, flowers or other embellishments to it but it's not essential.
  • Lastly, you've gotta do a little dance you know, just for the culture lol.

2. CUT THE OLD MATERIAL READY FOR SEWING

  •  Fold the satin fabric into half.
  •  Cut your material using a scissors to a square-shaped size(still folded)
  •  Fold over each corner of the material to form a sort of triangular bend-over and hold them in place using pins.
  •  Then cover the triangular bend-overs ,form rectangular bend overs above those triangular ones and hold with pins also.

3. PREP YOUR ELASTIC BAND

  •  Take the elastic band and place it round your head to fit perfectly(make it pretty tight but not too tight) just for comfort-ability during its wear.

4. START SEWING!!!

  •  Sew the rectangular bend-overs round using needle and a thread. Mae sure that the space that you're leaving is just enough to fit the size of the elastic band not the length(Take note,it may become a little complex if you do not follow attentively) . Make sure that one of the triangular bend-overs is left unsewed/open.
  • Take one end of the elastic band to the open triangular bend-over and using a pin, hold another end of the elastic band to the opening outside.
  •  Attach a safety pin(or simply anything of your choice) to the end of the elastic band(not the pinned one). The purpose of the safety pin is to serve as a guide for inserting the elastic band through the fabric opening.
  •  Insert the already safety-pinned end into the open end of the triangular bend-over of the fabric.
  •  Use the safety pin to keep pulling the elastic band into the satin's rectangular bend-over space. Note: when doing this, keep shifting the fabric together in order to make way for the elastic to go through.
  • Keep using the safety pin until you reach the end of the fabric where we earlier pinned the other end of the elastic band.
  • Unpin the elastic band from the elastic band from the fabric and also remove the safety pin from the other end of the elastic band that was pulled out.
  • Sew those two ends together as tight as possible and girlll you are good to go. Your finished product should look like this
