What I think about being Independent

 

    For a lot of people,independence may mean of lot of things. Like,some people feel it’s freedom from school-work,from parental hustle and orderings,from maybe your friends, or even from your spouse. But all these highlights surmount to one thing in my head, what?? You may think.

     ...independence is the freedom from one’s default mindset. 

Personally,that is what I feel about this subject matter in discussion.

    Actually,a lot of people have different thinkings. We cannot all think in the same direction,cos that’d actually be weird. Without diverse thinkings in this world,we’d actually all be gone. But back to the subject,our thinkings actually affect the way see things. For example,let’s look into the case of a teenage boy. He gets home from a long day at school just for his parents to order him around..’go do this! Go do that!!..’ the stress of school combined with these extra hurdles at home makes the young boy gets worked up in both his mind and body. Then,you can predict that right there in his heart,this guy is already scheming on leaving his parents and their wahala(trouble),to BE FREE. You can actually imagine that scenario and relate it to your real self,you’d understand it much better if you do that.

    That young boy thinks that when he leaves the four corners of his home,he’d be totally free which is a big misunderstanding and misinterpretation on his part .He keeps getting haunted by his thoughts of ‘when will I be free?,when will these struggles end?’ and even at the slightest opportunity,he gushes out of his home just to be free!!! When in the real sense,he just needs to get out of his mindset. Do you get the point I’m trying to make now? Go back if you can’t,it may appear clumsy cos it sure did when I wrote it at first.

    Then the boy leaves home with this wrong mindset,becomes a menace to the society,becomes stranded,idle,lonely and even becomes an harbour for bad thoughts,in fact,wild thoughts sef. 

    But he could have killed these consequences right from its rising by just having the right mindset about why he has to do those things ordered by his parents ,the boy would not have been a total evil to himself and the society at large.

    Okay,even forget that, and take a look at our country Nigeria. If we had the right mindset from the beginning and utilised our thoughts for good,we won’t actually be in this mess we find ourselves today. We all are just thinking of how to fly away from this country and run away from what we can actually develop and make some good out of.If our leaders can just make use of that little ounce of good in them,things will come out fine and alright and my dear,trust me,it will.

    I really hope these short illustrations made you understand the real depth and meaning of independence. I understand that you need to be free but,my friend,you also need to be wise. Stay woke my brother,always stay woke.
